The Sun peaked over the mountains at 9:23 this morning and set at 4:07 this afternoon, a grand total of 6 hours and 44 minutes of daylight.
I took this shot minutes after meeting Kira at the bus stop.

Why, you might ask do I appreciate 17.16 hours of darkness?
Simply because after a decade of enduring the extreme winter, I recognize that there are 29 days until winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.
On December 21st, the sun will rise at 10:14 am, and set at 3:41pm, a mere 5 hours and 26 minutes of light.
So for today, I am determined to be grateful for the extra 1 hour and 18 minutes.

I still miss Alaska! I can't wait to come back...maybe next year....
I remember struggling to find homes in the hillside area after 3:00 p.m. during the winter time coz some areas were not lit very well..and it's dark!
But it was fun......I miss the snow and many places to go sledding!
btw...is susie in your ward? (her last name just left my brain - she lives close to the Sharps and Ellis' -- Cange Rd/Street...cant remember).....susie williams I think....if she is in your ward..tell her I said hello...I saw her last year when we went there to visit....
Oh I love it! And you have such a good attitude! I don't know how the winters will affect me after being gone for 8 years! It will be fun!
And have fun watching Twilight tonight! I won't give anything away, but I really enjoyed it! Don't have any grand expectations, and I think you'll have a GREAT time!!
Well I'm glad someone is grateful for the darkness cause I sure as heck aren't. *wink*
I'd take a later sunrise any day, so that maybe, just maybe, Kate would sleep past 6:45 when the sun rises here. But in the spirit of being thankful, I am grateful for the sleep I do get, it could be worse!
You ought to go pro. girl because that is a awesome shot. May I down load it?
