My top five least favorite things this week are:
5. Re-writing Christmas Cards that were destroyed by my one year old.
4. Paying outrageous shipping rates to Alaska on discount items
3. Driving to the mail box because it was too cold to walk
2. Realizing that my child went out in public w/o panties - again.
1. Taking family Christmas Pictures.
Bob's parent are the noninvasive, easygoing type. They don't ask for much, simply a phone call now and then, maybe a visit home every few years. Their only request for Christmas this year was an updated family picture... The last one we sent was from 2003.

What sounded like a reasonable request literally turned into the most stressful event so far this Holiday Season.
It all began this morning. While preparing the girls for church I mentioned to Bob that we should snap some quick shots for his parents. How Naive, I should well know by now that any activity involving a toddler, preschooler and feisty five yr. old is never easy.
Bob set to work creating a nice backdrop in front of the tree by rearranging all the furniture in the front room. After setting up the tripod and bringing in all our floor lamps for lighting he was ready.
In the meantime I was busy tying sashes, scrunching, drying, styling, spraying, re-styling, spraying, tying sashes, breaking up fights, wiping smeared mascara that was mistaken for "lip gloss" and getting dressed.
Whew, after multiple threats and bribes to stay pristine the real fun began...
Needless to say after our second grueling session (the battery died during the first) I had a pounding headache and we barely made it to church in time for closing exercises.
Thank goodness, if not, Bob's parents would have to settle for a blender...I can only handle this level anxiety once every few years.

Oh my gosh, your family is so cute. And the last one really is great. So cute, those girls!
Who would of known that all of that hard work went into obtaining this fabulous family photo!!! It turned out great! I love the first one with Sadie attacking Bob, how funny. You have an adorable family, we miss you TONS! We love you!!!
I hope he returns from retirement too! We tried doing our "Christmas Family Photo" the other day--the stress, the headache, aagghh!!
you tell your husband, we could never pay him what he was worth. You can't put a price tag on that kind of agony.
Our morning was EXACTLY the same. I said the same thing. Matt wasn't as excited as Bob, but did it anyway. It was a disaster. We made it to church right at the end of Sacrament Meeting. And, according to me (not Matt), we do NOT have a keeper. Help Travis!
LOVE the pictures. (personal favorite: Sadie making a funny face by sticking her tongue out, she is my kind of girl) Jason and I can't wait to see you and your fun family over break!
Hey Kristi! Your description sounds just like what we do anytime we try to go anywhere! It is fun isn't it?!?! Your picture turned out great though!
Nice work on Photoshop! Teach me a few of your tricks?
You are so brave going at it on your own. We did the $3.99 a sheet at Target. They came out OK considering Target was running behind and spent less than 5 min. with my family. (I let them know how I felt about that!) Pictures are way to much work.
I feel your pain sista! Family pictures are always first on my list of least favorite things to do. I think I'd rather stick needles in my eyes sometimes. It would be less painful.
The end result is lovely of course. You know what they say, "no pain no gain"! HAH!
Hey, your technically challange parents have just had a lesson on how to get on blogs. So glad to see our Christmas present. Hey! we'll be more careful about what we asked for in the coming years. After all aren't parents and in-laws suppose to be a pain in the neck? We did love all the picture takes and the outcome is great and you guy are great also. We are so very lucky to have such beautiful grandchildren. All this and the Gospel too. Who could be more blessed than we.
