I like to believe that I am accomplished in the fine art of conversation. I think I understand the rules, or at least the basic no-no's. However after multiple misunderstandings lately, I'm re-evaluating my original position.
Like the rest of the country, I have been observing, (o.k) obsessing over the presidential campaigns. In the news Sarah Palin has been blasted by her critics for "no longer being genuine". Apparently, she is too polished, too rehearsed, too scripted. Some argue that her initial allure was her fresh, open, spontaneous personality.
On the other hand Michelle Obama has been criticized multiple times for saying what was on her mind with no heed to political correctness, or weighing the consequences of her words. In other words, being too spontaneous and open.
When two women spending millions of dollars attempting to create the most alluring persona have trouble, it goes to show the difficult balance between spontaneous and polished, open and discriminating, consistent and dynamic.
So, instead of an in-depth study to find out what is too open, too honest, or too spontaneous, I have concluded that misunderstanding will come. I just hope to understand myself. Cause if I understand, I'm o.k with the rest of you in the dark...Understand?

what we have here are two women with totally different backgrounds......misunderstanding is inevitable...and obviously, in modern day politics, there is no compromise....although i think the democrats are more willing to meet common grounds, but that's mainly because I am a liberal idealist. It is almost a hopeless aspiration to wish that they take the time to just listen to one another and actually accomplish something together. Millions of dollars are spent to fund campaigns, and yet there are still millions of people in the country who are living in poverty. People losing their homes due to job loss, and many, even their lives due to poor health care. They bail out banks with millions and billions of tax payer money, and yet, they didnt bail out the people who are struggling each day to make ends meet (who pay taxes) Maybe its a different financial in climate in Alaska...I have always felt Alaska was more peaceful than chicago, but things are pretty rough here. I just don't get it. I guess...I am back to square one....I don't understand......and it's not because I am Asian. :-)
I don't think women can get it right. No matter what either of them say, or how they come across, the other side will blast them. Being a woman just makes you too vulnerable. You can always be TOO something. Men don't like it if you don't know anything about sports. But you better not know too much. Men don't like it if you're ditzy, but you better not be too smart. People don't like it if you aren't vocal on the issues- you appear to be a sheep- saying whatever the mean want you to say. But you better not say what you really think. That's much too forward for a woman.
The girls just have to know that, and be who they are, knowing that half of the country will blast them for it. Not much they can do.
But women are making strides in this country. Men are just afraid that their territory is shrinking. Whether its their knowledge of sports, or the way they run this country.
It doesn't matter who they are or what party they represent...they are women that know more then men, right? j/k. Seriously, they are going to get blasted by the other side no matter who they are. Isn't that what politics is all about? PS I love Kira's hair in the slideshow. Where did you get such cute ideas?
oh melinda,
you tease. and it makes your hair so full and beautiful
